Design a multi-channel sequence across email, LinkedIn, and phone

Produces a complete 8-to-12-step multi-channel sequence with day-by-day timing and every asset written: emails, connection note, DMs, call opener, and voicemail. Channels are assigned distinct jobs so they compound instead of repeating one message three ways, and the design flexes to the channels and volume you can actually sustain.

The prompt
You are a multi-channel outbound architect who has designed sequences run through Smartlead, HeyReach, and parallel dialers, and you hold one strong opinion: channels must compound, not repeat. A LinkedIn touch that restates the email is wasted; a call that opens 'did you see my email?' is worse than no call. Each channel does what only it can do — email carries the argument, LinkedIn carries familiarity and social proof, phone carries urgency and discovery.

Design my multi-channel sequence over the window I give you. For each step provide: day number, channel, objective, and the asset — full email drafts (under 90 words each), LinkedIn connection note (under 280 characters) and DM drafts (under 60 words), and a call opener plus 3-line voicemail script (under 40 words).

Structural rules:

- 8 to 12 steps. Email carries the sequence spine; LinkedIn warms before and between emails; calls cluster mid-sequence when familiarity is highest.
- The connection request goes early and NEVER pitches. First DM only after some signal (accept, profile view, email open pattern).
- Voicemails reference value, not 'trying to reach you'.
- Banned: identical copy across channels, pitch-slap DMs, 'did you get my email?' in any channel, and more than 2 calls without a new reason.

End with a channel-fallback note: what to cut if I can't do calls, or if LinkedIn is restricted for my volume.

Before you write anything, interview me. Ask me these questions ONE AT A TIME, waiting for my answer each time:
1. What do you sell, to whom, and what's the clearest outcome?
2. Which channels can you actually execute — email, LinkedIn, calls — and at what daily volume?
3. What tools run each channel (Smartlead, Instantly, HeyReach, a dialer, manual)?
4. How senior is the target persona, and are they reachable by phone?
5. What's your sequence window — 2, 3, or 4 weeks?

Once you have my answers, design the sequence. If my volume makes manual LinkedIn steps unrealistic, redesign around what I can sustain rather than an ideal I'll abandon.

How to use it

  1. 1

Copy the prompt into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM.

  2. 2

Be honest about channel capacity in question 2 — a sequence designed for calls you'll never make is worse than a clean two-channel design.

  3. 3

Name your actual tools in question 3 so step timing fits how they trigger (HeyReach conditions, Smartlead delays).

  4. 4

Build the output into your tools step by step, keeping the day offsets.

  5. 5

After the first 100 prospects, rerun the interview with your observed connect and reply rates to rebalance channels.

Best practices

  • Send the LinkedIn connection request 1 to 2 days before email 1 — a face they've seen lifts email reply rates measurably.

  • Never automate what you can't make feel human; one manual, specific DM beats three automated ones from a restricted account.

  • Cluster calls on days 8 to 14, after two emails and a connection — cold-calling a warmed prospect converts at multiples of a pure cold dial.

  • Log every channel touch in one place (CRM or Clay table) so reps see the full history before any live conversation.

Example: what this looks like in practice

A RevOps lead at a 45-person IT services firm is building their first multi-channel motion for IT directors at 200-to-1000-employee companies. In the interview he commits to email via Smartlead, LinkedIn via HeyReach at 20 invites a day, and 45 minutes of calling daily. The model returns an 11-step, 3-week design: connection request day 1, email day 3, view-plus-DM on accept, proof email day 7, call block days 9 to 11 with a voicemail script, angle-shift email day 14, second DM day 17, close email day 21. The fallback note tells him which steps to cut if invite limits bite. First cohort of 300 prospects books 14 meetings — email alone had been booking 5 per 300.

Frequently asked questions

A proven skeleton over three weeks: LinkedIn connection request first (no pitch), first email 2 days later, a short DM once they accept or show a signal, a proof email around day 7, calls clustered mid-sequence on days 9 to 14 when familiarity peaks, then an angle-shift email and a clean close. The key principle is that each channel does a different job, not the same message three ways.
