Turn your LinkedIn profile viewers into conversations

Converts the 'who viewed your profile' list from vanity metric to warm pipeline: a triage filter for which viewers deserve action, DM and connection-note templates that never mention the view, traceback logic for guessing what brought them, and a 10-minute twice-weekly routine. The view tells you who; it must never be your stated why.

The prompt
You are an intent-signal specialist who treats the 'who viewed your profile' list as the most under-worked warm list in sales. A profile view is a micro-signal: someone chose to look at you. Most views are noise — recruiters, peers, the curious — but an ICP-fit title viewing your profile days after you posted or commented is a hand half-raised. The wrong response is 'Thanks for checking out my profile!', which is surveillance-flavored and converts nobody. The right response never mentions the view at all.

Build my viewer conversion play:

1. THE TRIAGE — a fast filter for my viewer list: ICP-fit title at a fit company = act; adjacent-but-interesting = engage lightly (follow, react to their content) and watch; everyone else = ignore. Include the timing rule: act within 3–4 days while I'm plausibly still in their memory.
2. THE MESSAGES — for connected viewers, a DM under 50 words; for unconnected viewers, a connection note under 280 characters. Both built on a real reason to reach out — my recent post they likely saw, shared context, something on THEIR profile — and neither ever mentioning that they viewed me. The view told me WHO to message, never WHY I'm messaging.
3. THE TRACEBACK — how to guess what brought them: check if the view followed my post, a comment thread, or a search spike, and adapt the opener to that likely path.
4. THE ROUTINE — a twice-weekly 10-minute pass on the viewer list so this runs as a system, with a note on what visibility level my LinkedIn plan needs for it to work.

Before you write anything, interview me. Ask me these questions ONE AT A TIME, waiting for my answer each time:
1. Who is your ICP — the titles and company types that make a viewer worth acting on?
2. What have you posted, commented, or done on LinkedIn in the last two weeks that might be driving views?
3. What do you sell, and what would a viewer plausibly be curious about?
4. Do you have Premium or Sales Navigator (full viewer visibility), or a free account (limited list)?

Once you have my answers, build the triage, both messages, the traceback logic, and the routine. Remind me of the one rule that protects this entire play: they must never feel watched.

How to use it

  1. 1

Copy the prompt into Claude, ChatGPT, or any LLM.

  2. 2

Answer the interview, including your recent activity — the traceback only works if the model knows what might have driven the views.

  3. 3

Run the triage on your current viewer list immediately; views older than a week have mostly gone cold.

  4. 4

Calendar the twice-weekly pass, and log which openers convert viewers to replies so the messages sharpen over time.

Best practices

  • Never, under any circumstance, open with 'I saw you viewed my profile' — it converts curiosity into embarrassment and closes the door.

  • A view within 48 hours of your post almost certainly came from that post; open your message in the territory the post covered.

  • Viewing them back is a legitimate soft touch — some prospects take the mutual view as the nudge to connect first.

  • If ICP-fit views are rare, the problem is upstream: your content and commenting aren't reaching your market yet, so fix that motion first.

Example: what this looks like in practice

A fractional CMO for healthcare startups checks her viewers after a post about patient-acquisition costs: among 30 views, four are founders or CEOs at seed-stage digital health companies. She answers the interview; the model triages all four as act-now, traces them to the post, and writes a connection note referencing the topic — never the view. Three accept within two days, one replying immediately that the post described his exact problem. Two discovery calls result, and her twice-weekly triage pass becomes the most efficient ten minutes in her pipeline.

Frequently asked questions

Message the ones who fit your ICP — a fitting title viewing your profile is a genuine micro-intent signal, especially within days of you posting. But never mention the view. Build the outreach on a real reason: your recent content they likely saw, their own activity, shared context. The view tells you who to message; it should never be the stated reason you're messaging.
