Build a 10-minute company deep-dive brief before you touch an account
Produces a one-page, source-backed account brief with a fixed six-section structure: snapshot, revenue logic, recent momentum, evidence-based pressures, two outreach angles, and landmines to avoid. It compresses the hour of tab-hopping most reps do before a tier-one account into ten minutes, and forces every claim to carry a source.
You are a senior account researcher at an outbound team that treats research as a weapon, not a checkbox. You've briefed hundreds of reps before first touches, and you know the difference between a brief that changes the message and trivia that pads a doc. Research one company using live web browsing and produce a one-page account brief with exactly these sections: 1. SNAPSHOT — what they sell, to whom, headcount, funding/ownership, HQ, in 4 lines max. 2. MONEY — how they make it, their likely top 2 revenue drivers, and any public numbers. 3. MOMENTUM — 3 recent signals (last 6 months): news, hires, launches, leadership changes. Date each one. 4. PRESSURE — 3 plausible business pressures right now, each tied to evidence, not guessed. 5. ANGLE — the 2 strongest openers for outreach, each linking one signal to one problem we solve. 6. LANDMINES — anything that makes outreach risky or dumb (layoffs, lawsuits, a competitor of ours they use happily). Rules: every claim gets a source you actually found, no 'they are a leading provider of' filler, no signals older than 12 months in MOMENTUM, and if you can't find evidence for a section, write 'thin — verify manually' instead of inventing it. Before you research anything, interview me. Ask me these questions ONE AT A TIME, waiting for my answer each time: 1. What company am I researching? Give me the name and website. 2. What does your company sell, and what's the clearest outcome customers get? 3. Who do you typically sell to inside a company like this (role and department)? 4. Is this a cold account or is there history I should factor in? Once you have my answers, browse, then produce the brief. If browsing turns up almost nothing, say so and give me the 3 best places to look manually.
How to use it
- 1
Copy the prompt into Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini with web browsing enabled.
- 2
Answer the four interview questions — be specific about the outcome you sell in question 2, since the ANGLE section is built from it.
- 3
Read the brief with a red pen: spot-check any number or date you plan to repeat to the prospect.
- 4
Paste the two ANGLE lines into your email drafting workflow, or run them through a cold email prompt from this library.
- 5
Save the brief to your CRM account record so the next rep doesn't redo the work.
Best practices
This prompt needs live browsing — run it in Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini with web access on, or the MOMENTUM section will be stale guesswork.
For private companies with thin footprints, add their LinkedIn company page URL and a competitor's name to your first answer — it gives the model more to triangulate from.
If the PRESSURE section reads generic ('facing digital transformation challenges'), reply 'tie each pressure to a specific signal you found or cut it' and regenerate.
Run tier-one accounts only. For the rest of your list, use a lighter trigger-event scan and save deep-dives for accounts that engage.
Example: what this looks like in practice
An AE at a 60-person compliance-automation company preps a named account: a 900-employee regional bank. She answers the interview, and the model comes back with a brief citing the bank's Q1 core-banking migration announcement, two open 'BSA/AML analyst' roles, and a consent order from eight months back. PRESSURE connects the consent order to manual compliance workload; ANGLE suggests opening on the two analyst roles as evidence the team is scaling manually. She verifies the consent order date, builds her sequence around that angle, and books a meeting with the bank's head of compliance in touch three.

Structure beats effort. Instead of open-ended Googling, give an LLM with web browsing a fixed brief format — snapshot, momentum, pressures, angles — and let it collect while you judge. This prompt does exactly that in about ten minutes per account. The key is the last mile: verify the two or three claims you'll actually use before they reach a prospect.
More account & prospect research prompts
Scan an account for trigger events: news, funding, leadership moves, layoffs
Runs a structured six-month trigger-event sweep on one account — funding, leadership changes, layoffs, launches, expansion, legal news — and returns a dated, sourced signal log, the top three events ranked by outreach value, a ready-to-adapt angle for the best one, and an honest timing call including 'no trigger exists.' It turns 'why now' from a guess into evidence.
Audit a prospect list for quality before a single email goes out
Audits a prospect list before launch: completeness and duplicates, out-of-ICP rows, stale-data risks, deliverability hazards like role-based emails and sequence collisions, and an honest A-F grade with a prioritized fix list. It catches the problems that get misdiagnosed as 'copy issues' three weeks and one burned domain later.
Build an executive profile brief before a meeting with a decision-maker
Produces a one-page executive brief before a high-stakes meeting: career pattern, likely mandate and metrics, sourced quotes, an evidence-based read on their meeting style, and three homework-signaling questions. It replaces frantic pre-call LinkedIn scrolling with a structured prep doc that keeps to public, professional information.
